5 out of 5 stars Does the job very well, and perfect for the LG Lotus!   September 4, 2010
G. Kline (Hoboken, NJ)
I enjoy water sports and at times I like to bring my cellphone with me, just in case (like kayaking somewhere for a long while). I used to put my phone in a small double ziplock freezer bag and tuck it in my bathing suit pocket. This worked fine... but the bag would eventually deteriorate and I'd have to use another. Of course, they're cheap but they're not guaranteed to be waterproof. Plus, a hole could inadvertently develop that might be missed, compromising the seal.

Anyway, while browsing on Amazon for a few items, I happened upon this "dry pak" wallet. It is designed for holding ID, money, and a few other things, but not big enough for a full wallet. However, it is PERFECT for the Lotus! My LX600 fits right inside, even with a hard shell attached. The Elite should fit in it as well.

The closure tabs are a bit thick, so this isn't something you'll find comfortable in your pocket. It's really meant to sit beside you, stow in something, or hang off your neck. There are two knobs that close the tabs tightly and they work very well. The flexible plastic case is thick, and has a smooth finish to it, but has enough of a tactile feel so that it won't be prone to sliding off of a smooth surfaces. My Lotus One fits inside it snugly but with enough room so I can reach in with my fingers to extract the phone. It's just about a perfect size for the phone, almost as if it were made for it.

Regarding it being "waterproof", some other reviewer dinged it for the manufacturer stating that this isn't designed for submersion. Well yes, that's true. It is waterproof with regard to the surface of the water. However, I decided to try it out with cash and a credit card. I put the items in, squeezed out the air, and then went swimming with it stashed in my bathing suit back pocket. It worked! No leaks. I was swimming in about 8 feet of water, occasionally, diving to the bottom. The manufacturer made the disclaimer about it not being waterproof for submersion, because it may not handle being under water for long periods.

So, although you could probably do fine with a small double ziplock freezer bag instead (which I have used), this one doesn't wear out so easily and has a seal that is locked into place. I heartily recommend it.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Packaging caused a leak   August 10, 2010

There is a sharp-edged cardboard card that for some reason the manufacturers decided to put INSIDE the pouch that is virtually impossible to remove without cutting the card or damaging the pouch itself.

I decided to try to fold the card inside the pouch (rather than to risk a scissor edge cutting the plastic) and did removed it. But after trying very hard not to cut or damage the soft plastic I wasn't successful because the corner edge of the card scored the plastic and effectively cut it open. This then caused it to fail the water test, which unfortunately I just found out before leaving on my trip where I would have needed this protection.

I'm sure the product would have been fine if the makers would have thought about this critical packaging detail. They could have printed the inside card on softer paper or cloth or kept the damn card simply out of the pouch and attached it to the outside via some removable adhesive. But instead, they effectively risked ruining their own product.

5 out of 5 stars Great product!!   July 31, 2010

I purchased this bag to hold my key, cash, credit card, passes for the water park and community pool. It $10 a pop for a locker rental at the waterpark, so it has paid for itself many times over. It holds my most important things and slips in the pocket of my bathing suit. I have been using it all summer on water slides in wave pools and at the regular pool, it has never leaked and provides the peace of mind of knowing that I always have my keys and money. Previously when we went to the pool I left those things in my bag, and always felt uncomfortable. This bag is one of the best pruchases that I have made in quite a long time.

4 out of 5 stars Treat it gingerly   July 29, 2010
Imyourmomma (new york, USA)
Was a little less rugged than I had expected. It kept the water out and that is what we bought it for. Some mild splashing, don't think it was ever fully submerged, but it did spend hours and hours in the kiddy pool with no problems.

I was worried that I was going to rip it when I opened it, never did, though. The yellow thing on the top is really cumbersome if you want to put it in your pocket. That is the locking mechanism for the pouch.

If you want something indestructible, I wouldn't go with this. If you want something you can bring in the water and put some money and your room key in, this will do. No idea on how it's shelf life will be(plastic break down). Guess I will find out on our next vacation.

5 out of 5 stars Works great!   July 21, 2010

Bought one of these to keep my valuables with me at the water parks and pools this summer. Works great so far in keeping everything dry and it's the perfect size for the bare essentials: credit card, cash, and a car key. I like that the mechanism for opening the bag is not too easy because it prevents my kid from popping it open without my knowledge and ruining everything inside (she tends to grab this while it's around my neck whenever I'm holding her). The bag itself feels like rubber and seems like it should last a while.
